Definition of Biography text

Biography text is a detailed description or account of a person’s life and written by someone else, it is non-fiction text.

Social Function of Biography

To know a person’s story about his/her life outside of any accomplishments this person may be known for.

To give many information easily and educate the readers.

Characteristics of Biography

Biography Is not written by subject and always written in third person.

Based on research.

Describes the person’s surroundings (where, when and how the person lived).

Use vivid language to narrate events.

Generic Structure

Orientation (introduction)

It is the opening paragraph, gives the readers the background information of the person

Events

In events, should be chronological order.

Re-orientation (closing)

It consists of conclusion or a comment or the writer. Tell about the echievement or the contribution of the person. 

Grammar and language features

Use of simple past tense.

e.g. : -The family then moved to his stepfather’s home country.

-He was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Temporal sequence and temporal conjunction

e.g. : His parents separated when he was two years old.

Focus on Specific participants

Use of Action verbs.

e.g. : the family then moved to his stepfather’s home country.

While promoting his 2009 film 12 Rounds , Cena announced his engagement to Elizabeth Huberdeau. They married on July 11, 2009. On May 1, 2012, Cena filed for divorce, which was finalized on July 18. Later that year, he began dating fellow wrestler Nikki Bella. They were engaged when Cena proposed to her at WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017 but ended their relationship in April 2018.  They were scheduled to marry on May 5, 2018. 

Cena is a fan of Japanese anime and has named Fist of the North Star as his favorite anime film. He also plays video games, citing the Command & Conquer series as his favorite. In December 2017, Ford Motor Company filed a lawsuit against Cena for selling his 2017 Ford GT , in violation of his purchase agreement. According to Ford, he signed a contract to keep the car for at least two years but broke the agreement by selling it for a net profit shortly after receiving it. 

In July 2018, Cena briefly moved to China, where he settled in Yinchuan. He then created a YouTube show on the WWE channel, highlighting his trips to local shops and markets.
